ABOUT MOSAIC
HEALDSBURG

MOSAIC Healdsburg is a new community
of God Seekers located in Healdsburg, California. It was started in
May of 2006 as a small church called "The Gathering", by John &
Becky Chevalier who wanted to see a NEW expression of Christianity
in their community. In talking with many people, over the years, we
have found that the church is not relevant to many so we wanted to
create a real church for real people, that experiences real
community and authenticity.
We are in the process of what we call,
"Creating the Future". Although we have solid roots in our spiritual
beliefs, we are constantly questioning our methodologies and how we
relate to the world around us. For more information, check out our
FAQ Page, and please feel free to drop
us an email or visit one of our gatherings.
OUR MISSION, VISION &
CORE VALUES
Faith communities
who are seeing God at work in their midst seem to have one thing in
common. They are clear about why they exist, know what they are
about, and build everything around their mission and core values. A
mission and core values statement does two primary things for a
spiritual community.
1. For
those who are already a part of the community, it helps them plan
for the future with a specific focus in mind. With a clear sense of
mission, the community can stay out of ruts, avoid stagnation, and
grow in vitality and effectiveness.
2. For
those outside the community, a mission statement helps people answer
this important question: "In light of what I’m looking for, is this
the right church for me? Do they aim to do what I need them to do
for me? Are they going in a direction I want to go?
Several of us have
been working to update our mission, vision and core values to make
them simpler, clear and practical. These will form the framework for
the days ahead. We hope the mission statement of MOSAIC Healdsburg
will fulfill both of these functions:

OUR MISSION:
To help people
on a spiritual journey
to be a Catalyst for Authentic Relationships,
Spiritual Growth, and Community Transformation.
TO HELP:
Several thoughts come to mind when we think of being a "help" to
people; to give assistance or support, to make more pleasant or
bearable, to further the advancement of, to change for the better,
to be of use or benefit. To "help" is a response to a stated or
obvious need.
PEOPLE ON A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY: At the
core of humanity we could say that every human being is on a
spiritual journey. Our focus is to engage with people who have
realized that they have a spiritual need either by circumstances in
their life bringing it
to their attention or by their own journey of seeking out who God
is. We acknowledge that in this group is a large number of people
who have been disillusioned by Christianity for any number of
reasons. We want to be a bridge back to fellowship for those who
have left the church.
TO BE A CATALYST FOR: Webster defines a
Catalyst as: a substance that enables a chemical reaction to proceed
at a usually faster rate or under different conditions than
otherwise possible or an agent that provokes or speeds significant
change or action. We want to equip people in such a way that the
power of the Holy Spirit in their lives allows them to be a catalyst
for authentic relationships, spiritual growth and community
transformation.
AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS: We wish to build "real"
relationships on many levels. With other followers of Jesus and
with the world in which we live.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH: We are committed to growth. We
wish to see people grow closer to God and become mature, balanced,
followers of Jesus.
COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION: This is the great
commission. We do not exist for ourselves alone. The reason that
we are on the planet is to reach out to our communities and be a
positive force within our circle of influence.
OUR VISION:
To be a
Spiritual Reference Point for the people
of Northern Sonoma County and a Sending Base
to the Ends of the Earth.
